QUANTUM® NAMED FINALIST IN SIIA CODIE AWARDS
"BEST SECONDARY EDUCATION INSTRUCTIONAL SOLUTION"

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - January 25, 2005, Quantum Simulations, Inc., a developer of artificial intelligence (AI) tutoring and assessment software, was recently named a finalist in the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Codie Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements and vision in software, education technology and digital content.

Over 1,000 entrants participated in the competition and Quantum's AI tutoring software for Chemistry and Applied Mathematics is one of six finalists in the category: "Best Secondary Education Instructional Solution." The first-round judging included representatives from the software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, analysts, consultants and subject-matter experts who conducted an intensive evaluation of each software entry. In the final round, members of the SIIA vote to decide the winner in each category.

"It is an honor to be named a Codie Award finalist," said Dr. Benny Johnson, Quantum's President and CEO. "While we truly value the proven research results in the classroom and positive feedback from science teachers and students, it's certainly also very rewarding to be recognized and highly regarded by peers in the industry who fully understand the value of technology as well as the complexity of what we've accomplished to advance AI educational software."

Quantum® was developed to address an unmet need for on-demand tutoring in science. While teachers do their very best to assist all students in support of No Child Left Behind (NCLB), a high percentage of students struggle or fail science subjects because there just is not adequate time or opportunity to work with each student one-on-one at the level required for deeper conceptual learning. Furthermore, there simply are not enough instructors or qualified tutors to go around. Quantum® addresses this need by providing students with Internet access to the Quantum Tutors® where they can work on any problem, enter their own work, ask questions and receive one-on-one coaching and feedback specific to their own work, subject knowledge and learning style.

"The 20th annual Codie Awards continue the tradition of honoring the best of the software, content and education technology industries," said Ken Wasch, SIIA President. "When one considers the number of outstanding companies like Quantum® that competed this year, being named a Codie Awards finalist is a significant achievement."

A complete list of the finalists is available on the Codie Awards web site at: www.siia.net/codies/2005/finalists.asp.
